    The Weaver

How do you define "storytelling couture" and how did this concept play into the creation of "INTERLôR VOL. 1: Awaken"?

“Storytelling couture” for me is about infusing each piece with a narrative that transcends aesthetics. It’s a fusion of fashion with personal and cultural stories that invite the audience into a deeper, more emotional experience. In creating “INTERLôR VOL. 1: Awaken”, this concept became my guiding principle. Each design element and artistic choice was intended to evoke feelings and ideas, mirroring my personal journey and the broader human experience.

In merging fashion, art, and editorial, which element was the most fun to play with?

The most exhilarating part was blending editorial elements with fashion. It was like choreographing a dance between visual narrative and luxury fashion aesthetics. Photography, a long-time passion of mine, played a crucial role. It allowed me to create a visual dialogue between the garments and their story. This integration not only challenged me artistically but also allowed me to express the depth and richness of my cultural roots and personal journey.

    The Seer

How do you see the collection influencing or contributing to the future of storytelling in fashion, particularly in high-profile settings like Art Basel?

Personally, INTERLôR has marked my personal journey and evolution as a creator in so many different ways. Initially, I didn’t see myself confined to the label of a ‘fashion designer.’ It was discovering digital fashion that opened up a world of possibilities for me, allowing me to step out of the box I had unintentionally placed myself in. This collection embodies that breakthrough–it’s where fashion, art, and technology converge.

After debuting my collection during Art Basel, the pinnacle for artistic expression, I’d like to invite my fellow designers, artists and creators, to break free from traditional molds and to see fashion as a multidimensional canvas for storytelling. INTERLôR is a testament to how fashion can transcend its conventional parameters, becoming a vibrant conduit for powerful narratives and rich, diverse cultural expressions. My hope is that it serves as an inspiration, encouraging a future where fashion is not just about the garment but about the stories we can tell and the worlds we can imagine through it.

    The Seed

How did it feel to bring "INTERLôR VOL. 1: Awaken" to the Art Basel stage, and what do you think it adds to the fashion-art conversation?

Presenting my collection during Art Basel was a dream come true. It was both exciting and validating to see my work resonate with all the incredible people who attended the beautiful SYKY lunch. This collection, I believe, contributes a fresh perspective to the fashion-art dialogue, showing how digital couture can be as expressive and evocative as any traditional art form, perhaps even more so because of its interactive and immersive qualities.

Looking back at your Art Basel experience, what fun or memorable moments do you think you'll take from this?

What will stay with me the most are the conversations and connections I made during this time. Sharing the story behind INTERLôR and seeing people’s reactions and interpretations was incredibly fulfilling. Those interactions, those moments of shared understanding and appreciation, are what I’ll treasure the most. They reaffirm my belief in the power of storytelling through fashion and the unique ability of digital fashion to connect and inspire.

I am also so grateful and impressed with what the SYKY team accomplished for my launch event during Art Basel. The creative team at SYKY was able to translate my vision of INTERLôR into a beautifully curated event, down to the menu that focused on foraged mycelium, and creating a cute editorial magazine that tells the story of INTERLôR.
